Justin Bieber appears on Saturday Night Live 5/12/12
Justin Bieber made a surprise appearance on Saturday Night Live last night for the May 12th episode to take part in the celebration of SNL’s 100th Digital Short.
Bieber in SNL Digital Short
In was an epic video that included cast members from previous shorts, as well as host Will Ferrell, Justin Timberlake, Andy Samberg, Usher, and of course Justin Bieber!
Now, the idea behind the video is a bit crude so we’re not going to spoil the plot…. But let’s just say… it’s kind of over the top – even for Justin Bieber!

See? What did I tell you… But now that Justin is 18 we figure he is free to do this kind of comedy now and then.
Last night's SNL was hosted by Will Ferrell and the musical guest was Usher. Maybe the Bieber / Usher friendship is how Justin ended up in the video.
It was good to see Bieber smile and have fun as it seems like over the last six months he’s barley cracked a smile while he gets his hip hop thug phase behind him.
The amazing British boy band “One Direction” finally made their U.S. television debut Saturday night when they appeared as the musical guest on NBC’s “Saturday Night Live”.
The show was hosted by “Modern Family” actress Sofia Vergara, and not only did One Direction perform two songs but they also appeared in one of the comedy sketches.
One Direction members Niall Horan, Zayn Malik, Liam Payne, Harry Styles and Louis Tomlinson performed “That’s What Makes You Beautiful” and “One Thing”.

The guys also joined together in a comedy sketch called “The Manuel Ortiz Show” - a strange but funny take on late night talk shows in other countries. One Direction is seen toward the end of the sketch (you might want to fast forward) in full comedy makeup and acting goofy.
The boys also made another debut Saturday night when they appeared on the popular "iCarly" TV show. Not only did they perform on the show but they had to memorize tones of dialog and were in almost every scene.
"Having One Direction on set was really cool, we didn't really know what to expect from them, because we had heard that they didn't really have any acting experience because they have a lot of lines and are almost in every scene. So we were uncertain as to how well the shooting would go. But we were all very pleasantly surprised they did very, very well, especially Harry, because he had to pretend to be sick the whole time. ... It was cool, just seeing the five of us mesh with the five of them."
Well, now that the boys have been introduced to U.S. TV viewers we suspect their fame will only continue to skyrocket!

A lot of celebrities who host SNL say it is the apex of their career - and it signifies the top of their game and popularity.
So when news broke that Justin Bieber is on deck to host Saturday Night Live during 2012 we had to wonder… will he be a good host? Can he bring the funny?
And we think the answer is a resounding YES!
In fact, Bieber has already proved he can be funny. Just ask Tina Fey from when she hosted SNL a while back and did a couple of funny sketches with Bieber.
See? We think he has the funny – and that sketch was from when Justin was only the musical guest for the night!
Bieber has also done funny parodies with Jimmy Fallen as well. Remember the “Someday” commercial parody?
Bieber DOES have a sense of humor - and he can be funny when he wants to.
In fact, we think Bieber would be an excellent host for SNL and we will definitely watch it.
Head Honcho Lorne Michaels and mega host Alec Baldwin say that not only will Bieber host during 2012 but he will ALSO be the night’s musical guest,
“The biggest names in the business are coming here thirty-something years after SNL's debut to host the show. Ben Stiller, Melissa McCarthy, who won the Emmy award, and Katy Perry’s coming and Jimmy Fallon, who’s double-dipping on your payroll, Jonah Hill, and I don’t want to ruin any other names, but Justin Bieber’s confirmed, he’s the musical guest and the host.”
This could be good. We see possible sketches about the pregnant mom and baby scare, Belieber problems, Selena problems, tattoo overload, and others.
It almost seems endless!
Kudos Justin. A hosting gig on Saturday Night Live is well deserved and we’re sure you’ll do great!
In light of Alec Baldwin’s recent ejection from an American Airline flight for causing a disturbance, he took to SNL over the weekend to declare himself a National Treasure.
Baldwin was removed from the flight for refusing to turn off his phone while playing the game “Words with friends”.
The timing was perfect - and Baldwin, no stranger to Saturday Night Live, took to the Weekend Update desk alongside Seth Meyers to parody his problems.
Kind of cool that within 24 hours of the incident Baldwin could call in a favor from Lorne Michaels and be on SNL for a comedy spot.
We all laughed at Justin Timberlake and Andy Samberg last week on Saturday Night Live.
But there was one sketch that never saw the light of day.
During a dress rehearsal for a “Mozart” sketch, in front of an audience of 300, Timberlake took a few shots at teen sensation Justin Bieber.
The plot of the skit was that Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart was going to take a break from his music career to become an actor. His friends scoffed at the idea asking,
“You’re nor one of those musicians who think they can act are you?”
After mentioning that he had already been in a movie about a “Social Network” and appeared on the “Austrian Mouse Club”, his friends told him they would rather go to work for “Wolfgang Amadeus Bieber”.
At this point, Timberlake says,
“Amadeus Bieber? You might as well put a wig on a chipmunk and tell him to act like a black man.”
The audience erupted in laughs.
The jabs seem to be aimed at Bieber’s guest role on the popular “CSI” crime show where the singer was ultimately gunned down, and his concert movie “Never Say Never” that Justin said would not be a concert movie….. but was.
But we think Bieber could have taken the jabs, as he himself has hosted and performed on the show several times.
We suspect the skit was pulled at the last minute in order to stop the media outcry for using the word “black man”.
Saturday Night Live returned from vacation last night with host Tina Fey.
While most of the sketches were not the funniest we’ve ever seen, one stood out as hilarious.
Michael Bolton made a special guest appearance in Andy Samberg’s SNL Digital Short where the group was working on a music video with Bolton.
After arriving late to the shoot because he was busy watching a Pirates of the Caribbean marathon, Bolton told the guys he had a great idea for their music video.
In true Jack Sparrow form, Bolton spun a web of “Pirates” parody throughout.
SNL returned last night with its first new show of the season, and it was … just okay.
You just knew that with the death of Osama Bin Laden, and the blabbering mouth of Donald Trump in the news, that there would be some golden nuggets of comedy.
But there really wasn’t.
A pregnant Tina Fey hosted with musical guest Ellie Goulding, and things got off to a mild start with a cold open parody of Osama Bin Laden reading his last will and testament. Watch Osama Bin Laden Read his Will on SNL
The best part of the evening was Tina Fey’s return as Sarah Palin during a sketch about the 2012 Undeclared Candidates GOP Debate. Palin appreciated FOX News hosting the debate since the both paid her and showed her the all the questions ahead of time.
The debate also featured big mouth and bad haired Donald Trump and was the best sketch of the night.

I have to say, Saturday Night Live has really lost their edge over the last ten years. They seem to get so close to greatness but always fall flat.
Between the death of Osama Bin Laden and Donald Trump running his mouth, there were so many fantastic opportunities for some great cutting edge comedy that 90 minutes should not have been enough time to cover it all.
Take the Osama reading his will sketch – writers really had time to make it epic but it just never pulled the laughs. It’s almost like if they get the set, costume, and impersonation down then whatever they say is funny.
And then there was the musical guest Ellie Goulding. She covered Elton Johns “Your Song” and was quite uninspiring. Maybe it’s her voice or the fact that she stood perfectly still during her performances.
If this was American Idol, Ellie Goulding never would have made it through the initial screening. She was bad.
Saturday Night Live has fallen flat and last night was no exception. So many great possibilities but so many lame jokes and sketched.
Weekend Update used to be parody about the week’s top news, but today it’s just a chance to profile weird characters that have nothing to do with the day’s current events. Loose the characters and get back to your roots of spoofing the news.
Sorry Lorne Michaels, but I’m glad I have a DVR.
But maybe I have just fallen out of the shows demographic. I like saying that rather then I’m getting old.
